Old can be new again! The owners of this existing log home wanted to create a more energy efficient house by removing the drive-under garage. During this remodel the drive-under garage was eliminated and a breezeway with a full two bay garage was created. This configuration will not allow cold air into the home when the garage doors are opened during the winter months.
The existing log home has a live-edge profile so to duplicate it on the garage/breezeway would have been costly so the clients opted for the live-edge Adirondack siding. The home was washed, cleaned and had new stain applied. In addition, we replaced many of the old single-pane windows in the house with efficient double-paned windows. With all the improvements, the clients will see energy savings during future heating seasons.
